#BookThroughPhone Tag

Procrastination will one day be the end of me. 

Once again, I was sat. Bored. Going through the photos on my phone. When I came across another Bookish Tag photo. This is a really old attempt at the whole Book Through Phone tag. And I'm not very happy at the choice of book, but I think at the time that I took the photo it was the only book that I could actually use. 

So, here is my attempt at the #BookThroughPhone tag. The quality of the photo isn't really good, so I do apologise for that. Sorreh loves. 

Yaaah, I know what you're all thinking. Why a Twilight book? I don't know okay, I just don't know.

#WhatsInMyBookBag Tag

A Bookish Tag

When it comes to Instagram I can spend hours and hours looking through many different fandom accounts and accounts totally book related, and I absolutely love it. It's probably only me, but I've recently been noticing all these different Book Tags. And I thought, I'm probably never going to get tagged to do one of those, so why not create my own Book Tag.

All the ideas I could think of were all kind of taken, which was kind of sad for me. It wasn't until I was browsing through my Camera Roll on my phone when I came across a photo I had taken a while back and it gave me an idea. 

So without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, I bring forward to you, #TheBookishRose. Yes my dears, a picture of a book and rose!

The rose and TFIOS book were both gifted to me by my amazing friends one day when we were in town together. I had originally read TFIOS on iBooks so have never actually owned my own copy. For weeks and weeks after I had read the book, all I ever talked about was how amazing the book was. I think one day they kinda got tired of me talking about it they bought me this book and the rose to shut me up. Oops. I guess that happens when you don't have friends who love to read as much as I do.

An Absolute Epic Read

I didn't think I'd be posting another book review so soon, but I've gotta say, the book that I've just finished only moments ago has been an EPIC journey and I couldn't help myself but log onto Blogger and start reviewing and use this as an excuse to post something.

So the second book of the year 2015 is Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson. Seriously if you've not read this book, I advise you to stop what you are doing right now and go read that book now!

My Rating: 5 BLOODY EPIC STARS/5

The Plot: Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics. But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his wills.

Nobody fights the Epics...nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them.

And David wants in. He wants Steelheart - the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David's father. For years, like the Reckoners, David's been studying, and planning - and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.

He's seen Steelheart bleed. And he wants revenge.

Review: Why have I never heard of this Author? Why why why did I only discover this books 2 days ago? This book is absolute insanity. The prologue had my heart pounding and I was just left there wanting more, I needed more. You have normal book beginnings and then you have this, this epic prologue which leaves you yearning for more. I was hooked and dived right into it. 

In David's world, these Epics - humans with superpowers - have taken over. Sound very Cliche and comic book type story? But no, the creativity and the world Sanderson has created is far more greater and far more detailed than your average comic book. The description, the action, the characters, is all perfect and I was never once bored or annoyed or frustrated at anything throughout the whole thing.

Blaah, I don't even have the words to describe this book, my words will never give this book justice. And even if I attempt at a metaphor to help me describe it, I'll probably be just as bad David :P 

This was definitely a bloody good read after that disappointment of an ending in Daughter. 

Yes yes I know my book reviewing sucks ass, I've never reviewed books before, but please bare with me, I do hope to get better at this as the reviewing continues, so I hope you continue reading. 

My next post shall hopefully be up soon and it's going to be Cupcakes :) now who doesn't like Cupcakes?

Reading Challenge and Review

A new years means a new reading challenge. Last year I wasn't at all successful with my reading challenge, because to be quite honest, I went on a severe book slump. But I guess that happens to everyone right? So a fresh start brings me a fresh new reading challenge and my challenge is to read at least 50 books. 50 seems like quite the small number, but coming out o book slump, 50 seems quite large. 

Which now brings me to the first book I have read this year: Daughter by Jane Shemilt. I'm going to try and write Non-Spoiler type reviews, because I know there are people out there who hate spoilers, as do I. So I will try my utmost best, to not give a lot away. but bearing in mind, I'm actually really not that good at writing reviews. Well, I'm not good at writing anything, period.

More than a year after her daughter’s disappearance, she’s still digging for answers—and what she finds disturbs her. Everyone she’s trusted, everyone she thought she knew, has been keeping secrets, especially Naomi. Piecing together the traces her daughter left behind, Jenny discovers a very different Naomi from the girl she thought she’d raised.

Review: I'm not really one for mystery books, it's not my kind of thing. So when a friend of mine recommended this book to me, I put it off for quite a while. When finally a couple of days ago, I picked it up, and read the book in 2 sittings. and let me just tell you, I was rather disappointed. How can an Author write a 400 page book, only to end it very ambiguously? I was so into the book, it did get quite interesting but the ending was far too fast paced and ended so abruptly, I was sat around for half an hour rather confused. What exactly did happen the night Naomi disappeared? Although that was the main question of the story, we don't actually get a definite as to what really happened.

So, overall, this book, was a huge disappointment for me, and I know I won't be reading another book like it quite soon.
